Description

Following the popularity of the Sibley Ultimate Series cotton canvas bell tents, CanvasCamp received requests from customers seeking all the same luxurious features but in a heavy-duty package for more demanding applications such as multiday festival camping, glamping, tent rentals, basecamps, bushcraft shelter, survival, long term use, and extreme weather conditions in all 4 seasons.

In response to those requests, CanvasCamp returned to the drawing board and developed the Pro Series. The floor is thicker. The canvas is more durable. The poles are stronger. Even the screen material, guy ropes, and stakes are beefier. These exclusive features and improved materials have made the CanvasCamp Pro series the highest quality and most popular Sibley (Bell) tent to date.

Twin Bells and Oval Floor Plan

The 600 Twin is a mash up of two bell tents connected with a ridge pole.  The unique oval shape of creates two “wings” with a central living room area.  The steep angle of the canvas and cathedral like ceilings of the Twin provide ample ‘pacing space’ and a roomy interior.

Two people are required to rise the dual center poles.  The oval shape and multifaceted structure necessitate even and taut tension on each and every guy line.  As the tent settles and shifts on the ground in the breeze it is important to re-tension the guy lines as necessary.  Due to the weight and size of the canopy, any amount of snow or ice accumulation can structurally compromise your tent, read more about snow load in our FAQ.

Groundsheet

The Ultimate groundsheets are durable, thermally welded, 15.9oz/yd² ripstop PVC.  Completely water and vapor impenetrable, the ‘bathtub style’ floor rises 4 inches high to keep you dry even in standing water.  Using a heavy duty size 10 zipper to attach the sidewall to the groundsheet, you can unzip the floor to roll up the canvas walls for maximum ventilation, or remove the groundsheet entirely for transport, storage, cleaning, or to enjoy the grass or sand beneath your feet.  A tail gate style system of secure hooks and eyes allows you to drop the bathtub wall near the door and peg it flat to prevent tripping and facilitate easy cleaning.

Spring Loaded Poles

The durable nickel plated steal poles have internal spring loaded wires that guide the pole sections together for quick and easy assembly. The center pole has a welded lanyard ring which can be used to hang an inner tent or chandelier.  The 600 Twin has dual center poles with a horizontal cross bar requiring two people to rise the canvas.

Dual A-frame Doors

The Sibley’s signature A-frame door allows for easy entry and exit, and holds the canvas at 90 degrees from the ground preventing rain from falling into the tent when moving in and out.  Spring loaded poles snap together quickly for easy set up and fold together for fast take down and organized storage.  The floor is equipped with two stirrups which hold the foot poles of the A-frame securely in place.  The top of the A-frame door is equipped with a pin that sits in a grommet at the peak of the door ensuring proper placement.  A rain cap is then placed over the pin and grommet to keep rain from running down the poles.  The canvas door zips together vertically and along the bathtub floor. The 600 Twin Pro is equipped with a detachable no-seeum mesh door for the front entrance for maximum ventilation and bug protection.  Each side of the door is equipped with loops and ropes to neatly tie back the canvas and/or mesh doors to hold them open when not in use.

Every Sibley is compatible with a Sibley Connector, a bow-tie shaped attachment that can be used as an awning or can provide covered canvas bridge between two Sibleys.  600 Twin can be arranged in conjunction with other Sibley’s to create a multiple room tent.

.

Windows and Vents

Every Sibley comes complete with windows and vents covered in no-seeum mesh to keep the bugs out while providing ventilation and airflow.  The half moon windows have zip up covers to allow you to customize your desired level of ventilation and privacy.  Each window is equipped with loop fasteners to neatly hold the covers when the windows are unzipped.

In addition to the six half moon screen windows, the Twin has a large A-frame supported picture window opposite the second entrance.

Durable Guy Lines and Tensioners

The Ultimate series comes with 3mm guy ropes that will need to be tied on before your first pitch.  Check out the assembly instructions at the bottom of this page to get a feel for the initial set up process.  Our PRO Series comes with pre-attached guy lines and tensioners for those customers looking for an out-of-the-box set up.    Plastic tensioners prevent edges from cutting into the guy lines and prolong the life of your tent.

Steel Stakes and Pegs

The Ultimate stakes and groundsheet pegs are designed for easy insertion and removal from average earth, like grass or forest floor.  For pegging a groundsheet to especially hard or rocky soil, D60 nails are cheap, easily sourced, and can be placed and removed with a standard claw hammer.  If your application requires the heavy duty stakes for hard, rocky, or frozen ground, check out our PRO Series.

PRO Canvas

The10.6oz/yd² army duck canvas is our heaviest and most durable canvas; but it’s not all about the weight.  Proprietary PRO treatment adds additional waterproofing to the natural water resistance of canvas, along with mold and UV resistance.  PRO canvas is designed for heavy use and extreme climates.  Repariable and retreatable, a properly maintained PRO can last for years and years.  Double stitched seams throughout.

Cotton canvas provides a natural waterproofing and breathability.  Cotton fibers swell when damp, the tight weave prevents rain from penetrating and the surface tension of moisture on the outside combined with the angle of the canopy allows water to run off.  Moisture held in the air on the inside is still able to escape directly through the fabric, keeping internal humidity low and mitigating condensation.  Check out FAQ for more information than you could ever need to know about Cotton Canvas.

Cotton

The canvas is exclusively 100% cotton.  Cotton is made from the seed hair of this hardy and drought tolerant plant. Sustainable, renewable, and one of the most biodegradable fabrics on earth.  The canvas is a soft, natural, earthy beige that glows inside and out with natural or artificial light.  CanvasCamp is the only tent manufacture to carry the official Seal of Cotton®.

Stove Compatibility

All of Canvas Camp's tents are easily adaptable to fit a modular stove jack for a tent stove.  Proper stove placement is dependent on stove size, desired temperature, and intended use; thus we provide you the advice and systems to place a stove in best location for you.  Simply cut a hole in your desired flu exit location and screw on the stove jack.  Contact us to learn more about the best stove placement for your desired application.  Not for use with open fire pits.  We encourage you to be vigilant about fire safety and are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  CanvasCamp or Fest Head Depot cannot be held liable for any damage or injury to persons or property resulting from the use or misuse of fire or flammable materials in or around our tents.

Which Sibley is right for me?

To compare Sibley sizes and series check out the comparison chart below.

As a Sibley tent is round and most outdoor equipment is square, CanvasCamp recommends that you err on the side of caution when calculating how much square footage you need. That said, the Sibley 300 is 75ft², or the equivalent of a 9'x8' room. The Sibley 400 is 133ft², which is the equivalent of an 11'x12' room. At 210ft², our 500 models are the equivalent of a 14'x15' room, while the Sibley 600 model is a whopping 304ft² or the equivalent of a 18' x 17' room!

When trying to decide which series Sibley you need, consider it's intended application. Is the application strictly personal, or commercial? Is it for the back yard or the wilderness? Will you be carrying it on foot or will it be transported? How much space do you need? How long will you leave it up? What CanvasCamp accessories do you require compatibility with?
